25 Week General English Programmes

The Academic Year Programme for Non-EEA students is a 25 weeks tuition course within an 8 month study period with 15 hours of tuition per week. The course focuses on Rapid Learning for Communication in Spoken and Written English. Our highly qualified English teachers set students clear learning objectives and use the latest modern teaching techniques to provide language practice in speaking, writing, listening and reading, to improve English pronunciation, grammar and vocabulary.

LCC English aim to develop all aspects of the English language including speaking, pronunciation, listening, grammar, reading and writing. The focus is on improving your ability to communicate clearly and effectively. All students throughout their course will be expected to participate as much as possible and work individually, in pairs and in groups as well as take part in whole class activities.

Right to work

Non-EEA students who are permitted to reside in the State on a stamp 2 immigration permission are allowed to avail of a work concession.  Under this concession a student may work in Ireland  in a casual part-time capacity without a work permit.

Students holding a valid  immigration stamp 2  permission will be permitted work 40 hours per week only during their permitted holidays.  At all other times students holding Immigration permission Stamp 2 will be limited to working 20 hours per week.

Awards

All students who successfully complete the programme receive the Limerick City College Certificate in English. Non-EU students must also complete an official examination at the end of the programme such as PET, FCE, CAE or IELTS.

Requirements

Students should be from a non-EU country, age 18 + with at least a basic knowledge of English (A1 level). Students are required to have an attendance of at least 85% throughout their course and to sit an official exam during their programme.
